The calculation considers both calendar aging (time-based degradation) and cycle aging (usage-based degradation).

Charging habits have a significant impact—frequently charging to 100% or depleting below 10% accelerates degradation. Assumptions

We base our calculations on real-world data from EV battery studies and fleet statistics. The calculator assumes a typical lithium-ion NMC or NCA chemistry battery as used in most modern EVs. Degradation is non-linear, with most EVs experiencing 5-10% loss in the first few years, then slowing considerably. We assume proper thermal management, as inadequate cooling can significantly accelerate degradation.
